I have given myself until 6 December 2011 to lose 40 kilos, to be in a healthy weight range. I have been trying to lose weight for about 25 years. This blog is going to be my journal, hopefully a useful tool in my weight loss journey...

party time...
Well the 10th anniversary party was great -once we were there... before hand though - aaarrgh! the usual trauma of attempting to find an outfit. I invested in some awesome shoes, fishnet tights and a new clutch thinking that these might magically bring something together...alas no such luck. Once we arrived though it was so great to see everyone and drink some wine, that being self conscious reduced to manageable level :) As for eating, well there was a salad and lots of water but also sharing of husband's hot chips, daughter's ice cream and deep fried nibblies at the party. as well as that a lot of unnecessary munching in between - I think yesterday and today could safely be considered write offs re diet...which prompts the question of how to have a healthy weekend? There will always be parties, trips to the shops, hangovers and surely constant eating isn't compulsory for any of those occasions? Tomorrow looks promising - back to work after the long weekend means back to routine and some regular eating patterns...Phew!

to market, to market...
Well today is the weigh in day - Sunday morning (usually a most delightful time of the week involving sleep ins, coffee, newspapers, pyjama wearing and buttery toast). The dreaded number: 110kg :( The BMI calculator informs me that my BMI is 38. It should be between 20 and 25. Mmmmm just a touch over... so a good weight would be about 70 kilos. That would put me at a healthy 24 BMI and makes a nice neat 40kg to lose. But how? eat sensibly and exercise regularly! So simple (one would think) but *musing* how to do this and not sabotage self? How to not indulge constantly when there is so much yumminess around? For example: yesterday was a beautiful Brisbane winter day so what better way to spend the morning than wandering the farmer's markets with my beautiful daughter, my gorgeous sister and her beau. first stop coffee - smells divine, then sharing a cinnamon spiral, on to breakfast french toast with fresh strawberries, ice cream and maple syrup, taste testing sis' veg omelette and Greek honey puffs - hot deep fried balls of batter topped with golden honey and a dusting of icing sugar mmm delicious BUT feeling stuffed and weighing myself this morning - not so fantastic. I guess I'll see how today goes...big 10th wedding anniversary for our friends tonight. It should be a great bash but as usual I'm plagued by the thoughts of
1 I have nothing to wear that fits and does not look like a large tent
2 Aaargh I have expanded since last time I saw everyone
3 I can't believe my husband doesn't bat an eyelid at going out with chubby moonface lady and still manages to sincerely tell me that I'm beautiful *blessed*
So to start on this journey today - what am I actually going to do (because I have to face the fact that action is required - merely READING about losing weight and BLOGGING about losing weight may not be quite enough, alas). Let us try for a nice salad at lunch time, lots of water, stick to fruit for afternoon snacks (and a coffee - let's not do anything too drastic!) and then tonight I guess we'll just wait and see what happens...
